Matrimonial disputes covers such things as infidelity, unacceptable behaviour or hiding assets in acrimonious divorce proceedings.

In respect of the first two generalisations, surveillance may be the only method of proving or disproving any allegations.

So far as hiding assets, the House of Lords ruled in White-v-White (2000) that as a general guide the judge should start with an equal division of the matrimonial assets, including any pension arrangements. This has meant that payouts to the “innocent” party are now far greater that prior to the ruling and is a precursor to parties hiding assets from their spouse, thus ensuring that they have sufficient assets remaining in the event of divorce proceedings.
